We All
Need a Home

December 2, 18:00, EET
We will focus on the issue of homelessness and its “invisibility”. Drawing from the South African context, we will discuss why housing programs are not always successful and how vulnerable groups can assert their rights. Finally, we’ll consider the motivations behind films about the concept of home and explore ways to make them more empathetic.

On Silenced Issues, Personal Stories and the Power of Community

Conversation with Elena Chirila, Ana Gurdiș
Collaborating with others teaches you a lot about yourself: you come to understand what you are good at, your interests, how you deal with stress and delegate tasks. It’s very important for us to forge ties, help one another, share opportunities, because this is how our cultural spaces become stronger, more resilient and sustainable.

“Julie On Line”: about filmmaking and healing in friendship

Conversation with Mia Ma
Julie On Line addresses very difficult and sensitive questions related to living with schizophrenia, trauma, child abuse and injustice. At the same time, the film is imbued with an incredible sense of mutual care between you and Julie, as well as the trust that made this film possible in its sincere moments and the instances of extreme vulnerability that Julie shows to the camera and you.

The connections that keep us going

Conversation with Darya Tsymbalyuk
In this utterly horrible situation, you have to grasp at something. It seems we are holding onto the rhythmic cycles of nature, the certainty that there will be summer and spring.

A love letter to the world

Conversation with Dan Dansen
Survivors are so often framed as being deficient, being too much, being not enough or unable to cope. However, in general, they figure out plenty of clever ways to survive and still thrive. There are so many things we could learn from them.
